Here in Central Oregon we have an immeasurable amount of fly fishing opportunities. Starting with the Infamous Deschutes and McKenzie rivers along with some less known spots are year round fisheries. Just south of Bend the Deschutes Nation Forest and Newbury National Volcanic Monument contain some of the best trophy lakes in the world. The Fall River, Crooked river, and Upper Deschutes to name a few provide miles of water to stalk trout in gorgeous surroundings. I will put you on the fish in all these waters.

Deschutes River

Starting as a small creek from Little Lava Lake the Deschutes river is a diverse watershed with many unique experiences. The Upper Deschutes is a high alpine desert oasis. Mature Ponderosa and Douglas Fir forest with a spring creek feeling. Beautiful Brook, Rainbow, and Brown trout inhabit the Upper Deschutes.

The Lower Deschutes is our destination fishery. With 98 miles of floatable canyon you have a lot of opportunity at native Redband Rainbow Trout (Redsides) and Steelhead. We offer daily and multi-day trips every day of the year. Salmonfly season is a fever from mid May to Mid June, then thick caddis hatches all summer followed by steelhead in the fall.

 Mckenzie River

Old hallowed ground under this water for drift boat lovers. The original Mckenzie River Drift Boat was designed in the 1930’s and is still the base design we used today. If you want a day of floating down a quintessential North West River this is it. You are surrounded by a fluorescent green forest and crystal clear water. Year round fishing is available with a mix of wild Redband Rainbows and stocked Rainbow trout. This river has a dozen different day floats, I will pick the best section for when you are here.

Fall River

The Fall River is a sight fishery you have to see. A totally spring fed river, this little 13 mile tributary to the Upper Deschutes is one of a kind. Great hatches and fishable any day of the year. The Fall is my favorite winter fishery in Central Oregon. The ultimate classroom where you can experience the fish up close and personal.

Crooked River

The Crooked river is Central Oregons true tailwater fishery. 9 miles of wild and scenic habitat just below the Bowman dam. Open year round and with easy access the Crooked is a beautiful setting to fly fish. Wild Redband Rainbow Trout fill these waters and eat daily. Plenty of convenience with 7 campgrounds and many day use areas in the canyon. Half and full day walk and wade trips.

Hosmer Lake

Hosmer is quite possibly the most unique trout fishery in Oregon. Just off the back side of Mt.Bachelor it comprises two lakes connected by long weed lined channels. Watching the trout swim right past the boat you marvel at how fast and robust they are. Cutthroat, Rainbow, and Brook trout co-exist in this rich environment. June through October is the typical season for Hosmer. The Lake freezes over the rest of the year however there are warm springs that provide oxygen and food to its inhabitiants so they stay fat and happy.
